Spring is time for statewide proficiency testing so Mad Science has tailored a 2-pack series of fun, hands-on workshops specifically to address state benchmark requirements. Let us help your 4th graders tackle proficiency testing with entertaining and practical workshops that supplement your existing science curriculum. Interested? You should be!

We come directly to your classroom, on your schedule, bring all the equipment/supplies and engage your kids in a 60-minute hands-on entertaining and educational workshop. Kids take part in multiple activities that highlight and help to bring about a greater understanding of each subject.

Children investigate tectonic plates and learn how their slow movements and erosion cause stress on the Earth. They discover that these movements can cause mountains to form, earthquakes to occur, and volcanoes to erupt.

Mineral Mania

This workshop provides students with an introduction to geology, including an understanding of the geological formation processes, classification systems, identification methods, and physical properties of rocks and minerals. Hands-on activities encourage students to interact with the concepts presented. This lesson provides an opportunity to develop scientific skills through inquiry based instructional methods.

Exploring EcoSystems

Not all webs are made by spiders! See how plants and animals are connected and how they interact with their surroundings. Work with your classmates to create your own ecosystem to observe in your classroom as it grows and evolves.

Explore the wonderful world of worms and a variety of other decomposers (both plant and animal) and the part they play in decomposition. Delve into microorganisms and the benefits they can share.

Mischievous Magnets

This workshop introduces students to the properties of magnets through hands on activities. It also employs inquiry based teaching methods to present advanced topics such as magnetic fields, compasses, and electromagnets.

Explore the energy of motion using rubber bands, car races and flying ping pong balls. Learn how to make mechanical energy fun as you examine both potential and kinetic energy. Make your own "rattlesnake scare" to startle your family and friends.
